In a couple of my recent posts: How-To: Christmas Themed Scrapbook Pages & Meet the Queen of Pages, a reference is made to Weekend Scrapbook Retreats. Why would you want to go to one of these?
1) Concentrated time to work on album projects. Of course we know that when we set aside a block of time to do something we can get more done. Making photo albums is no different.
2) No distractions…I don’t know about you but when I’m home, the laundry, messy living room & that TV series that I TIVO’d all call to me.
3) No interruptions…M-o-o-o-m… Honestly, I didn’t know Mom was a dirty word until I had a kid of my own. If you’re not there they seem to find what they need without you. At the location I use for most of my retreats, there is no cell phone or internet access. I think you would find it refreshing. (There is an emergency number in case you need it, though.)
4) Beautiful setting – the location I usually use, Camp Hammer in Boulder Creek, CA is be-u-tiful and relaxing.
5) Someone else does the cooking. All you have to do is scrapbook, eat, rest, maybe get a massage.
I do some traditional scrapbooking (that means using paper, a standard scrapbook with pages, decorative papers and doodads) but mostly do digital scrapbooking now. In my case, this means using digital scrapbook software to create 12×12 pages that I print through the Creative Memories Digital Center then place in a traditional scrapbook album. Since the software is installed on my computer, I just bring my laptop.
If you cannot attend one of my events, grab a friend or several and head to a weekend destination of your choosing! Take a gander at some of the smiling faces at past retreats:
